Hi Jazzers:
I hope that your summer is going well. I just got back from Fort Saskatchewan in Alberta where it rained every day and the mosquitos attacked in massive squadrons, not seen since the Battle of Britain. During our stay, I sat through two days of an Elvis festival. The performers were from Canada and the USA, one of the highlights was Johnny Elvis - local boy from Langley. Besides Elvis, he covers Roy Orbison and Buddy Holly. Try to catch his show next time he plays locally or at our Legion.
Here is an update on our Legion 240’s 75th Anniversary celebrations, as discussed in my previous newsletter:
Saturday, August 29 - Legion 240 - Events held in parking lot unless rainy weather.
9.00 AM- 10.00 AM Pancake Breakfast
Mini SHOW & SHINE CAR SHOW
11.00 AM- Hot buttered corn & BBQ burgers and smokies
1.00PM -3.00PM - White Rock Rhythm Kings with Glen Tremblay sponsored by the WRTJS.
Throughout the day:
* Beer Garden
* Lawn Games and activities
* Raffle Prizes
* 50/50 draw
* Silent Auction- Many local businesses have contributed items and services
* Other entertainment TBA
8.00PM in the Hall - The Wheat and Barley Band
Tickets $20.00 at the door.
This is an important event for our Legion, please try to attend and participate in the activities where you can. This event also gives us an opportunity to showcase the WRTJS to the public at large and potentially new members.
